Hosted by Steffi Sidhu, Malaysia’s top ranked female player, the event was a big success. “We had to add an extra flight, of four more players, due to the overwhelming requests.” said Steffi. “We ended up with a total of 16 players across five flights.”
For most of the girls, it was their first time trying out FootGolf. But this didn’t stop them from loving it. So much so that a lot of them asked to play the full 18 holes, instead of the planned 9 hole game.
Steffi spent the day playing with each flight, and giving them some basic training, and tips on how to better their game. “I underestimated their enthusiasm, and energy levels,” said Steffi, “they were having so much fun, they just didn’t want to stop.”
The whole concept of the event was to introduce more women to FootGolf and grow the number of players to eventually have an official ladies league complete with tournaments and a national team.
“For me, it was a successful event,” comments Steffi, “all the girls showed up excited to play FootGolf. It’s great to see women getting involved in the sport, hopefully we can have more events like this in the future to encourage even more ladies to join.”
